Many know Julie Walters from her major role in Mamma Mia or Harry Potter, but most wouldn’t have known of her passion for trains (and of course, the UK!)
From the moment Julie Walters arrived at the Tea Rooms at the Pet Cemetery Holywell, the whole team were put at ease. She is exactly as she come across on screen – a funny, warm lady with no aires or graces. She fitted in perfectly with the team here and bonded quickly with John Ward (owner).
John Ward took the lead by showing Julie around the beautiful award winning grounds and the newly rennovated Tea Rooms. He was like a duck to water on screen… he is of course, waiting for his call from Hollywood now!
“The whole day was a whirlwind adventure but what followed was even more exciting! Having the opportunity to showcase our truly unique business nationally has been a real eye opener. We have been contacted by pet lovers all over the UK with letters of gratitude and kindness,” explains Emma Ward, marketing manager.
The show intrigued one 82-year-old Cockney, who goes by the name ‘London Joe,’ so much he felt the need to travel 215 miles from Highbury in London by train to come and visit the Pet Cemetery and Tea Rooms, Flintshire.
Joe had seen ‘Europe’s largest pet cemetery’ on episode four of Coastal Railways with Julie Walters on Channel 4 and was “impressed and intrigued”.
He said: “I’d never hear of a pet cemetery, so I got the train from Euston to Flint, and it was smashing. I was treated by the train conductor and the tea room staff like I was a lord. It was the best day I could’ve had.”
